OUR SUPPORT TEAM AT
CARLTON HILLS LUTHERAN:
WELCOME, DEANNA HASTINGS!
Deanna is our new organist/musician, and we are so excited about her gifts of music and the spirit she brings to our congregation.
Deanna is a retired choral/music teacher from San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) and San Diego State University (SDSU) as well as an accompanist and church musician. She holds a BA from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in Music/Art and an MA in Arts Administration from Point Loma Nazarene University. Her unfinished EDD is in Aesthetic Education.
While teaching, she held volunteer leadership positions with the Choral Conductors Guild, the local Music Educators National Conference (MENC, now known as National Association for Music Education)
and Orff-Schulwerk Associations, Honor Choirs and Choral Festivals.
Upon retirement, she moved to Washington State and became a Master Gardener. While living in the Pacific Northwest, she was one of the pianists at the Portland Airport which she notes was “so much fun!” Now that she is back in San Diego, she has accompanied several choruses, volunteered at the local community garden and contributes to the newsletter in her community. She also paints murals, beautiful mandalas, pet pictures on rocks and beach scenes on driftwood.
Deanna notes that she is very happy to accept the call to serve Carlton Hills Lutheran Church as organist/musician. We are just as excited to have her with us!
